Saint Louis University-Madrid—also known as SLU-Madrid—offers a dynamic international experience, combining the richness of a global community with the familiarity of an American-style campus. With over 300 courses offered in English, you'll have the flexibility to tailor your study abroad experience to your academic and personal interests.

We have overall Goals and Expectations for Study Abroad Participants, covering the personal, academic and professional aspects of study abroad. Additionally on this program, you can:

  • Navigate new educational systems, including new learning and teaching styles
  • Take advantage of academic strengths in STEM fields
  • Achieve personal development and the ability to adapt to a new culture
  • Strengthen Spanish language skills, as well as cultural competency and awareness

Eligibility

  • At the time of participation, students must have completed two semesters at UW-Madison. 
  • 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Sophomore, Junior, Senior
  • Open to UW-Madison degree-seeking students only
  • Good academic and disciplinary standing
  • At the time of application and the semester prior to participation, UW-Madison students must be currently enrolled. Transfer Students to UW-Madison need to be currently enrolled at their home institution

With over 300 courses taught in English from more than 45 areas of study, the SLU-Madrid program offers you academic options that allow you to make meaningful progress towards your degree. You'll have the opportunity to learn from SLU-Madrid's internationally distinguished faculty and interact with students from around the world. Among its many academic strengths, SLU-Madrid is particularly strong in the STEM fields.

You'll enroll in 12-18 credits during the semester and will have access to a variety of academic resources, from academic advising to tutoring services and more. With an average class size of 16 students, you'll have ample opportunities to interact with your instructors and build connections with your classmates. Additionally, while Spanish language courses are not mandatory, you can choose to begin studying Spanish or enhance your existing skills through upper-level Spanish courses.
