Competitive Program:  This is a competitive exchange program and space can be limited.  As with all IAP programs, acceptance is not guaranteed.  Review of applicants is based on these criteriaWhen applying to this program, you will be asked to identify a second program option for the same duration.  If you are not accepted to the University of Glasgow, IAP will work with you on a second application to an alternative program.

Study abroad in Glasgow, Scotland!  The University of Glasgow offers you a tailored program of study with great flexibility and choice at an internationally renowned university.  Established in 1451, the University of Glasgow is one of the UK’s oldest and most prestigious insitutions, recognised internationally for its groundbreaking work.  This exchange program allows you to directly enroll in university courses while living and studying alongside local and international students.  The University of Glasgow has more than 17,500 undergraduate students from more than 120 countries around the globe.  You will meet a wide variety of people while studying on Glasgow's beautiful campus, building friendships and networks that last a lifetime!

Eligibility

  • 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Graduate Student
  • Open to UW-Madison degree-seeking students only
  • Good academic and disciplinary standing
  • At the time of application and the semester prior to participation, UW-Madison students must be currently enrolled. Transfer Students to UW-Madison need to be currently enrolled at their home institution

The University of Glasgow has been welcoming international students for more than 30 years.  One of the unique features of this program is the flexibility of combining classes from across all four of the University's Colleges:

  • College of Arts
  • College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences
  • College of Science and Engineering
  • College of Social Sciences

During the application process, you will indicate your class preferences and the Glasgow Study Abroad & Exchange Team will request approval on your behalf from the various academic departments on campus.  Students choosing to study abroad in Glasgow need to have great flexibility when it comes to course selections.  Space in upper level courses can be limited.  It's advised that you discuss specific academic requirements with the Glasgow Study Abroad & Exchange staff directly:  visiting-students@glasgow.ac.uk
