Denmark, Copenhagen

Limited Capacity Program: This program can accept a limited number of students each term, and in the past, we have received more qualified applicants than available spots. Review and admission of applicants occurs on a rolling basis, and you are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. You may only have one open application per term, but should have an alternate program in mind in the event that you are not accepted to this program.

DIS Copenhagen is an approved UW affiliate program that offers over 250 courses to choose from at their Copenhagen, Denmark study center. On the semester program, one of your courses will be a core course that includes two faculty-led course-integrated program study tours, a three-day study tour in Denmark, and a week-long study tour to another European destination.

DIS offers several summer sessions in Copenhagen. You can also mix and match summer sessions between Copenhagen and Stockholm study centers.

Thanks to an excellent transportation system (you'll use this to get everywhere!), compact city center, countless bicycle paths, and the DIS study center's central location, the parks, galleries, cafes, and historical sites of Copenhagen are easy to discover. You will truly enjoy the cozy vibe of this happening European capital.

You will be working closely with both DIS and IAP on this program. You can access the information page through the DIS Copenhagen website to learn more about the academics, housing, excursions and activities, and location.

The DIS Copenhagen Public Health semester program and several DIS summer courses are approved to fulfill the field experience requirement for the UW Undergraduate Global Health Certificate. Additionally, the DIS Copenhagen semester program offers for-credit Research Assistantships in various fields of study, and a summer program in Labs & Research is also available.

Students participating in the DIS program during the summer have the opportunity to mix and match sessions between DIS’ program locations in Copenhagen, Denmark and Stockholm, Sweden. To learn more about this opportunity, please visit DIS’ site. If you would like to apply to participate in the mix and match sessions, please apply to the DIS program location where your program will begin. For example, if you are interested in DIS Summer Session I & II and would like to study in Copenhagen during session I and Stockholm during session II, then you should apply to the ‘Copenhagen-Summer, 20XX – Session I & II’ session. During the application process, IAP will collect your location and course preferences.

DIS also offers the Arctic Experiential Studies: Greenland summer session, a partially-funded opportunity for students interested in sustainability to gain a rich, transdisciplinary understanding of the Arctic. The program begins and ends at DIS Copenhagen and spends four weeks in Greenland. Read about the additional application requirements for this funded opportunity on the DIS website.
