CIEE Summer Language & Culture in Alcala

Offered through CIEE, the Summer Language and Culture in Alcala program is an approved UW affiliate program. On this summer program you will take courses throught the University of Alcala at the Instituto Benjamin Franklin, which offers academic programs in Hispanic Studies for U.S. students, and is where CIEE students take classes ranging in subjects such as business and history, to linguistics, literature, political science, and art history. You are required to take two courses per summer session.

You will be working closely with both IAP and CIEE on this program. You can access the program's Language & Culture page through the CIEE website to learn more about the academics, housing, excursions and activities, and location.

Eligibility

  • 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Fourth semester of college level Spanish or equivalent.

  • Sophomore, Junior, Senior
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA in all Spanish language courses
  • Language Prerequisite(s):
    Variable (see notes) Spanish
  • At the time of application, students must have completed one semester at a US college or university.
  • Open to UW-Madison degree-seeking students only
  • Good academic and disciplinary standing
  • At the time of application and the semester prior to participation, UW-Madison students must be currently enrolled. Transfer Students to UW-Madison need to be currently enrolled at their home institution
