St. Xavier’s College (SXC) is a private Jesuit institution affiliated with the University of Mumbai. Granted autonomous status in 2010, SXC offers a rich and interdisciplinary selection of courses across business, economics, international studies, political science, environmental studies, human rights, South Asian studies, and more. English is widely spoken in Mumbai and is the language of instruction at St. Xavier’s, making the program accessible to students without prior experience in South Asian languages.

Students deepen their learning at St. Xavier’s through lectures on Indian culture and society, local site visits, and short excursions in and around Mumbai. They may also participate in volunteer opportunities through St. Xavier’s Social Involvement Programme (S.I.P.). The S.I.P. aims to inform and empower students by engaging them with socio-economic issues, fostering critical thinking, and encouraging meaningful community involvement. The program partners with more than 200 organizations across a wide array of focus areas.

Note that students can only take odd-numbered semester courses (for example, courses listed as Semester I, Semester III, Semester V). The academic structure at St. Xavier's Mumbai is divided between "Odd" (Fall) and "Even" (Spring) semesters, and the specific subjects offered in one are typically not available in the other. When browsing the St. Xavier's Syllabus or Time Tables, ensure you only look at courses listed under Odd semesters.
