UW Chemical & Biological Engineering Summer Lab in China

The summer lab sessions are required five week intensive experiences intended to provide Chemical & Biological Engineering (CBE) majors with relevant hands-on experience before they finish their degree. This session takes place in beautiful Hangzhou, China at Zhejiang University. Students are part of a group with students from other US institutions.

Eligibility

  • Students must be CBE majors and have completed CBE 324, 426, and 430 prior to participation on the program. Only students directed to this program by the CBE Department are eligible to apply.

  • 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Eligibility determined by course pre-requisites, Senior
  • Open to UW-Madison degree-seeking students only
  • Good academic and disciplinary standing
  • At the time of application and the semester prior to participation, UW-Madison students must be currently enrolled. Transfer Students to UW-Madison need to be currently enrolled at their home institution

The Operations and Process Laboratory, CBE424, familiarly known as Summer Lab, is a required Chemical Engineering course, unique because it is only offered during the summer and it consists of five weeks of full time work performing experimental work and writing reports based on the results. There are sessions in Madison and several overseas locations.
