CIEE Advanced Arabic Language and Summer Arabic Language in Amman

FLAS Recipients (Undergraduate and Graduate) who participate on this program for Summer 2025 or Academic Year 2025-2026 will receive a guaranteed $1000 scholarship from IAP.

Jordan, Amman

Offered through CIEE, the Advanced Arabic Language and Summer Arabic Language programs are approved UW affiliate programs. On the semester or year-long program, advanced Arabic language learners can take Arabic language courses in addition to a number of elective courses in Arabic in subjects such as business communications, history, culture, literature, and media. On the summer program, students with no Arabic up to six semesters can enroll in both Modern Standard Arabic and Colloquial Jordanian Arabic during an intensive seven-week program.

Eligibility

  • 2.5 cumulative GPA required for summer program

  • 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • For the semester or year program, 5 semesters of Arabic is required. For the summer program, students with no Arabic up to 6 semesters of Arabic are eligible to apply.

  • Junior, Senior
  • 3.3 cumulative GPA in all Arabic language courses
  • Language Prerequisite(s):
    Variable (see notes) Arabic
  • Open to UW-Madison degree-seeking students only
  • Good academic and disciplinary standing
  • At the time of application and the semester prior to participation, UW-Madison students must be currently enrolled. Transfer Students to UW-Madison need to be currently enrolled at their home institution
