Germany, Stuttgart

The University of Hohenheim Exchange is offered by the College of Agricultural and Life Science (CALS) in partnership with IAP.

Study abroad with German and international students at the University of Hohenheim (UHOH), a member of the Euroleague for Life Sciences. Designed for students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), the exchange program with UHOH provides students with the opportunity to study in a highly innovative and research-intensive university with a strong international profile. UHOH is a leader in the fields of agricultural research, food sciences and natural sciences, and makes important practical contributions to sustainable economic, agricultural and social development on local and global levels. It is a modern university with over 40 courses of study for ~9,000 students from almost 200 countries.

The University of Hohenheim is situated in the south of Stuttgart, the state capital of Baden-Wurttemberg, and is housed in and around the historical premises of Hohenheim Palace. It is surrounded by a modern campus, a Botanic and Exotic Garden, and three museums. The expansive green spaces make the University campus one of the most attractive in Germany.

PLEASE NOTE: The University of Hohenheim’s academic year consists of two semesters (Winter and Summer), which do not coincide directly with UW-Madison’s Fall and Spring semesters.

Winter: October 1 through end of February

Summer: April 1 to beginning of August

Dates given above are a general timeframe and exact dates of orientation and classes/exams are shared by the international team at University of Hohenheim. Since the Winter semester at UHOH and the Spring semester at UW overlap, it is most convenient for UW students to study abroad at UHOH during the UHOH’s Summer semester (early April to early August) or for the full academic year (early October to early August).

UW-Madison Students may be nominated for consideration for the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM for University Students, which is dedicated to promoting the global exchange of high-achieving students from Germany and around the world. Details can be found below under the Cost & Funding tab under the "Featured Scholarship" section. Interested students should reach out to a CALS Study Abroad advisor to learn more.
